Matitone Bell Tower
Lecco, Italy
The bell tower of St. Nicolò, affectionately known as 'Matitone' (big pencil) due to its pointed shape, is one of the main symbols of the city of Lecco.
Matitone is, among other things, one of the 10 tallest bell towers in Italy and the second tallest in Lombardy: 96 metres high and 380 steps to climb to reach the top.
The peculiarity of the bell tower is that it is separate from its church. The reason is simple: it is about 200 years younger. The church of St. Nicholas dates back to 1862, while the Matitone dates back to 1882.
Spacecannon was contacted by engineer Bosisio to solve the bell tower's lighting problems, caused by a faulty system. Spacecannon's contribution in this case went beyond simply supplying lamps: we were also consulted for the design, testing and finding a solution for customised brackets.

The products proposed, namely eWHITE-LINE 1200 and eWHITE-LINE 300 4000K, are perfect for lighting facades and crosses, while for the clock face, the best solution was the NOVA with IP68.
