Christmas "Toyland"

In the heart of Christmas in Como, the magic of light has a specific name.
Spacecannon created the artistic lighting for the historic center of Cernobbio for the "Toyland" event, an integral part of the larger "Città dei Balocchi" event, now in its 30th edition.

Chosen as technical partner by the Amici di Como association, led by Daniele Brunati, we took care of the design, installation, and programming of the lighting scenarios that transformed the town into an immersive experience for families, children, and tourists.

The project involved several areas of the town center, with a luminous narrative designed to accompany visitors on a truly emotional journey.
The goal was clear: to restore wonder. To do this, we worked closely with the organization from the beginning of autumn, carrying out tests, site inspections, and simulations to identify the best combination of fixtures and colors.

The light installations

The interventions curated by Spacecannon enhanced the architecture, trees, and city streets, creating a coherent and festive visual language:

• The pier vault: illuminated with a deep, dramatic blue to evoke winter nights;
• Maritime pines in the center: protagonists of chromatic effects thanks to RAINBOW3 projectors;
• Along the lake: a luminous path with colors programmed in DMX, accompanying the flow of visitors;
• Public gardens: scenic lighting of the plants around the market stalls;
• Skating rink: visual setting dedicated to families and children;
• Dynamic projections: snowflakes on historic buildings and thematic mapping on architectural facades in the heart of the square.

Each intervention has been calibrated to integrate harmoniously with the urban landscape, offering an atmosphere consistent with the poetics of the event: to amaze, without ever overdoing it.

Lighting that tells a story

The value of the project lies not only in its visual impact, but also in its narrative capacity. The play of light becomes part of a coherent story, where every point in the town contributes to building a Christmas imagery capable of speaking to different audiences.

The technology used ensured high performance, precise control, and the ability to modify programming in real time based on the schedule of events. This is a fundamental aspect for an event that thrives on dynamism, shows, and interactive moments.

Christmas lighting is not just decoration: it is a strategic tool for attracting people, enhancing the value of local areas, and strengthening the identity of a community.

Every event, every city, every square requires a dedicated approach.

And the Spacecannon method is based precisely on this: designing tailor-made lighting, listening to the needs of those who experience it, interpreting the space with technical and aesthetic sensitivity.
